Gua Sha is one of those modern tools based on traditional Chinese medicine that is used releases unhealthy bodily substances to stimulate a new flow of oxygenated blood to the area, which is believed to promote metabolic cell repair, regeneration, healing, and recovery.

Gua Sha uses point-pressure facial massage to enhance your beauty rituals by promoting the blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, smoothing your skin and leaving your face lifted and radiant after use. It is argued that Gua Sha facial massage is better than Botox and it’s a natural and non-invasive rejuvenating solution. However, there are some common mistakes which we’ve noticed through our own customers’ own routine, example:

  1. Not using a face serum or face oil prior to the massage

This mitigates the friction caused to our skin while you perform your Gua Sha ritual.

  1. Incorrect posture

Hold the tool at an acute angle (between 15 to 45 degrees)  with the surface of your skin to maximize the contact between the tool and your skin.

  1. Neglecting neck area

There are various lymphatic drainage pathways on our neck and it is important to not skip the neck when learning facial massage.

  1. Too much pressure

Not only will this bruise your skin, it could also cause broken vessels and leave permanent damage too. Be gentle.

  1. Hygiene

It is advisable to clean your Gua Sha with warm water and keep them in a pouch for hygiene purposes.
