It is generally known that in most beauty and skincare products,

there will be synthetic fragrance  it them, i.e. moisturizer, face masks, lotion etc.Fragrance has been one of the most polarizing ingredients in skin care in recent years. Today, there is a noticeable number of products in the market which are marketed as “fragrance-free” because because they cause irritation. The word fragrance is an umbrella term that can hide up to 3,000 synthetic or natural chemicals used to add delicious scents to beauty products. Fragrances are considered trade secrets and do not need to be disclosed.

Natural fragrances are scents extracted from nature. Unlike natural fragrances, synthetic fragrances are made in laboratories. Rather than sourcing the notes through forestry, these scents replicate natural accords. When you have a fragrance allergy, your immune system reacts to the elements and chemicals in the fragrance to trigger a reaction. This means your body perceives the perfume ingredients as foreign and could potentially trigger an inflammatory response to fight off the chemicals, as if they were an invading bacteria or virus.

Bottom line is, when you have doubts about any product or ingredient, consult a dermatologist.
